Do I need to make a deposit to secure my booking?
Yes, we require a 25% deposit to secure the date with the remaining amount due 14 days prior to your event. If your event is within two weeks, the full amount is payable.
Do you charge GST?
No, Encore Strings is not GST registered.
What happens if my event date changes?
We will do our best to assist with your date change, and will require an additional 10% of the total booking fee for any date changes. If we are unable to accommodate your date change, the initial booking deposit is not refundable.
Will Encore Strings be able to play for a longer period if my event is running late?
If our musicians are able to stay and play for a longer period, we will accommodate for the additional time; overtime is chargeable in 15 minute increments.
My event is outdoors, will Encore Strings be able to play outside?
Encore Strings usually play acoustically and don’t require the use of amplification in most circumstances, however our musicians cannot and will not play in inclement conditions and it is suggested that suitable shelter is supplied. Shade will also be required when playing in the sun. It is also required if playing on a beach that a suitable floor covering is supplied to cover the sand.
Can Encore Strings be amplified?
Yes, we have the ability to amplify our instruments and recommend this for events over 300 people, we would require you to provide the use of a PA system for this option.
How much space do you require?
A string trio requires approximately 6m3, and a string quartet requires 9m3.
What other requirements do the musicians have?
Encore Strings require the use of armless chairs; one for each musician, sufficient light and adequate shelter from the rain, sun and wind. The varnish on stringed instruments is very delicate and needs to be protected from all elements. Musicians will stop playing if their instruments and music are at risk of being damaged.
What payment options do you offer?
Our preferred option is Bank transfer, however we can also accept cash or can process credit card payments through PayPal however there is a 3.5% surcharge if you wish to use this option.
What happens if one of your musicians is not able to attend my event?
In the unlikely event that one of our musicians isn’t able to attend due to uncontrollable circumstances, Encore Strings has a network of musicians that we can call upon to find a suitable replacement. If we are unable to find a replacement, Encore Strings will refund you the missing player’s fee.
You don’t have my favourite song in your repertoire list, will you still be able to play it?
Encore Strings can arrange most songs for an additional fee of $30 per arrangement; we will require at least three weeks notice from the date of your event to arrange your choice of song.
What is your minimum booking time?
Our minimum booking time is one hour, then charged at 15 minute increments.
What setup options do you have?
We can offer a quartet, trio or duo depending on what atmosphere you would like to create at your event. A quartet is made up of two violins, viola and cello and this group is the most preferred choice. The quartet is able to add harmonic richness and a depth of sound. Where space is limited we can also offer a string trio or duo option which may also appeal to those on tighter budgets.
